The now independent brand Redmi has taken the wraps off its latest smartphone dubbed, the Redmi Go.
The phone will most probably be based on Google’s Android Go operating system, which is basically the stripped-down version of Android that runs on entry-level smartphones.
While Redmi continues to refrain from divulging too many details about the smartphone, the company gave a brief glimpse of what the Redmi Go has to offer earlier this week.
Based on the details Redmi has revealed, we know that the phone will sport a 5-inch HD display and will be powered by an unspecified quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Keeping in line with that, a previously surfaced report suggests the phone will pack Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 425 SoC processor, under its hood.
Meanwhile, Redmi continues to remain mum about the phone’s release date, also keeping the price tag it will carry under wraps.
Despite the lack of an official confirmation, there’s hearsay that the Redmi Go could hit the store shelves sometime next month.
The Chinese tech company took to its Twitter handle (@xiaomi) on Monday, spilling the beans on the phone’s specifications.

According to the tweet, the Redmi Go smartphone will feature a 5-inch HD screen and will be powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon SoC.
The phone will draw its juices from a 3,000mAh battery and will house an 8.0MP camera with an LED flash on the back. Up front, there’s a 5.0MP camera for selfies and video chatting.
While details about the exact operating system of the phone are still scarce, multiple reports suggest it will run Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition).
If this speculation comes to fruition, the Redmi One will be Xiaomi’s first Android One platform-based phone. We also know that the phone will go up for sale in Black and Blue color versions.
According to WinFuture, the Redmi Go will be available in a 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM variant. The onboard storage capacity of the phone will support expansion via a Micro-USB port.
In terms of connectivity, the phone will offer Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. The German website also suggests that the Redmi Go will hit the European store shelves next month, carrying a price tag less than EUR 80.
