SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is slated to receive the Axel Springer Award in person on Dec. 1 at the Berlin-based Axel Springer headquarters.
The media and technology company “honors the inventive spirit and innovative power with which Elon Musk has revolutionized several industries” with the award, Axel Springer said. With An Evening for Elon Musk – Mission to Mars theme, the ceremony will broadcast live from 2 pm ET (8 pm CET) on the Axel Springer SE YouTube channel.
The program will feature a Business Talk, Axel Springer chief executive Mathias Döpfner will talk to the Tesla founder about his inspiration. the German Federal Minister of Health, Jens Spahn will hold the speech honoring the prize winner.
“As one of the most creative entrepreneurs and most brilliant engineers of the digital age, Elon Musk inspires an entire generation. He combines great visions with the indomitable will to achieve them, Döpfner said. With PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla, Elon Musk has turned entire industries upside down, and his drive is irrepressible. He is motivated by the goal of making life better for humanity. And not in small steps, but by fundamentally turning the way we do things on their head. With incredible success,” he added.
The Axel Springer Award honors outstanding personalities who are innovative, capable of creating and changing markets and shaping culture, without ignoring their social responsibility.
While SpaceX changed the space industry by introducing reusable rockets, Tesla radically overhauled the auto industry by boosting the EV market and breathing new life into the electric vehicle revolution that could have started back in the 90s by GM crushed the EV1 program. Moreover, Tesla Energy has started gaining momentum in its industry as well.
Before Musk, the Axel Springer Award has been given to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, inventor of the World Wide Web Tim Berners-Lee, founder, and CEO of Amazon, and owner of the Washington Post Jeff Bezos, an economist, and author Shoshana Zuboff.
