Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek doesn’t need to play games that everyone wants to see him play. At this point in his career, the Twitch star doesn’t even need to follow whatever else is playing on the platform.

After returning to Twitch from Microsoft’s Mixer, Shroud has been exploring a wide range of games such as Valorant, Apex Legends, and Warzone. He has even participated in some IRL streams, playing board games on stream with his friends in front of his fans.

Shroud has also dabbled in Blizzard’s The Burning Crusade expansion for the World of Warcraft Classic. Some of his fans are happy to see him play different games, there are others that are willing to find someone else to watch in the meantime.

During his June 7 stream, one fan asked Shroud if he is concerned about some games being too boring and slow for viewers, which might make them turn off. Since he is not playing the trendy games, some viewers might just stop watching him, Dexerto reported.

“No, I’m kind of at the point of my career where like the grind, so to speak, isn’t as important as it once was,” he explained.

“So, I don’t need to just like hustle, hustle, hustle, play the games that everyone wants to see always, always, always. I don’t need to do that anymore. I feel like I’m kind of past that, you know?”

He went on to explain that if he had not passed that point, he would still be playing Warzone like everybody else is. He added that at some point everybody gets sick of playing only the most popular game.

“If I wasn’t past the point of what everyone wants to see for all the views and hype and all that, I’d be playing Warzone, every second of my f**king life like everybody else is,” he added. “And you know that they’re not having that good of a time!”

However, loyal viewers are likely to stick around regardless of the game he plays, because it is the streamer who makes the game interesting and not the other way round. Do you think Shroud will be returning to Valorant or Apex Legends anytime soon? Let us know in the comments section below.
