2019 is expected to be a great year for leading handset manufacturers that are gearing up to launch their hotly-anticipated flagships smartphones this year.
After Xiaomi announced that Redmi will no longer manufacture products under its wing, but will operate as a separate brand, the recently detached brand took the wraps off the Note 7. The phone was unveiled earlier this month China.
Despite being easy on the pocketbook, the Note 7 boasts an impressive array of features that are likely to sweep Redmi aficionados off their feet. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo OS.
The Redmi Note 7 sports an extra large 6.3-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 with 450 nits brightness, and 84 percent NTSC color gamut. The phone features a 2.5D curved glass protection coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Under the hood, the phone packs a powerful 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC processor and a highly competent Adreno 512 GPU. Furthermore, it ships with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB of RAM and offers 32GB and 64GB of expandable onboard storage options (up to 256GB via microSD card slot).
On the photography front, the Redmi Note 7 houses a 48.0MP Samsung GM1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 5.0MP sensor. The rear-mounted cameras come with monochrome dual-LED flash support, PDAF and are reportedly equipped with AI-backed software features such as 1080p video recording, EIS, handheld super night scene mode, HDR, background blur, and portrait mode.
Up front, there’s a 13.0MP selfie camera with AI face unlock, background blur, front HDR, AI single shot blur, AI smart beauty, and AI face unlocking. The phone draws its juices from a 4,000mAh battery that comes with Quick Charge 4 support and delivers standby time of up to 251 hours and talk time of 23 hours.
The Redmi Note 7 comes bearing a starting price tag of CNY 999 (about 10,300 INR) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant. The 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM model, on the other hand, will set you back CNY 1,199 (about 12,400 INR), and the 6GB RAM + 64GB variant retails for CNY 1,399 that converts roughly to about 14,500 INR.
The Redmi Note 7 is slated to hit the store shelves on January 15th in multiple color options including Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue, and Bright Black.
