The esports community is understandably buzzing with the news about the superstar Twitch streamer, Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff receiving an equity stake in FaZe Clan.
Nickmercs, who is married to Emumita Bonita, is the new co-owner of the FaZe Clan. He confirmed the news in a tweet on Apr. 23.
Touted as one of the world’s most popular gaming content creators, Nickmercs’ recruitment to Faze Clan in 2019 raised quite a few eyebrows. This came after his unexpected exit from 100 Thieves.
The news was originally announced by The Verge in Apr. 22 piece on Kolcheff, in which they introduced him as “part-owner” of FaZe.
Neither he nor the organization had publicly confirmed an announcement deal at the time. On Apr. 23, with the information making the rounds online through multiple outlets, the streamer decided to tweet to confirm the news.

Nickmercs is one of the biggest names in gaming that’s associated with Faze Clan, so it is hardly surprising that he has received an equity stake in the organization.
When he joined in 2019, he said it was more so a partnership rather than him being under the org’s content creation umbrella like the rest of the members.
When asked during his stream about becoming a part-owner of Faze, Nickmercs responded with a wry smile and walked away from the camera. It is still unclear exactly when he received the ownership stake.

There is a possibility he could have received the ownership stake at the time of joining or in Sept. 2020, when Faze extended his deal by a further three years. Being a part-owner, he is more likely to be involved with the organization for much longer.
